Prior to founding Otis Associates, Otis led a successful effort to open the Japanese market to American supercomputers as president of Cray Research Japan, Ltd. His operations and P&L responsibilities in that position – in addition to his marketing and sales experience – make him well-suited to implement the recommendations he makes to client companies, as desired.

Otis received his B.A. from Williams College and his Masters in International Management from the Thunderbird School in Arizona. His background includes service in the Peace Corps in Thailand, work in the Asia/Pacific Division of Citibank in New York and Singapore, leadership in trade and investment at the Minnesota Trade Office, and marketing within an IBM joint venture start-up with Supercomputer Systems, Inc. He speaks Japanese, Thai and some German.

Otis is a certified member of the Institute of Management Consultants and adheres to its standards of professional and ethical practices. In addition to his consulting practice, he teaches an international business course in the St. Thomas University MBA program. Otis sits on the board of directors of the Minnesota World Trade Center, where he chairs of the committee on global electronic commerce, and is a member of the St. Paul-Minneapolis Committee on Foreign Relations, the Minnesota World Trade Association, the Minnesota International Center, and the Japan-American Society.
